EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
JOB DESCRIPTION OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CHIKE OKOLI FOUNDATION
The Executive Director (ED) of Chike Okoli Foundation is responsible for the administration, management and implementation of all programs as well as the administration and management of financial development activities. The principle objectives for the Executive Director are to successfully manage high levels of growth of the Foundation by closely managing the staff, implementing programmatic standards and best practices and designing and carrying out business plans.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Organizational Leadership and Management
- Manage the daily operations staff and volunteer workers.
- Manage the budget, providing overall structure and guidance based on programmatic needs.
- Plan, develop and implement program/project development activities that support the strategic growth and development of the Foundation's initiatives.
- Lead the Foundation's organizational fundraising efforts and design and carry out new approaches for successful fundraising.
- Identify, establish and communicate fundraising goals and strategy to Chike Okoli foundation's staff. Establish appropriate systems to achieve specific goals for fundraising efforts.
- Create working relationships with donors or grant makers to facilitate the process of writing successful funding requests.
- Coordinate with the Board to develop materials, strategies and execution of fundraising plans.
- Ensure that fundraising activities are diverse and well-executed including event planning, donor follow-up and information dissemination.
- Provide leadership and direction for international development.
- Design high qualitative grant proposals.
- Work cooperatively with the Board to develop and refine the Foundation's strategic plan.
- Identify and facilitate the development of strategic relationships with other international organizations working to achieve similar objectives.
- Perform other related duties and activities to support the overall efficiency and development of the organization.
- Creating a productive working relationship with the Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, including monitoring of the Centre's activities.
Supervision And Guidance
The Executive Director (ED) functions under the indirect supervision of the Board of Directors. The ED is expected to carry out most job functions independently. Performance evaluation is based upon successfully meeting the objectives set out in this Position Description. Evaluation of the position will be provided by the Board annually.
Desired Qualifications
- Education: A University degree from a reputable Institution. Master's Degree or more preferred.
- Prior Experience: A minimum of five years work with international development or related projects.
- Language Proficiency: Spoken and written fluency in English.
- Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of development issues and approaches. Strong working knowledge of global culture/history/current events; demonstrated ability to provide leadership and turn an organizational vision into tangible plans.
- Specific Knowledge: Specific knowledge about our focus areas ( Healthy Living and Entrepreneurship) is of advantage.

- Ability to represent Chike Okoli Foundation effectively with public, applicants, and clients.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent computer skills in word-processing and database management - proficiency in Excel a must.
- Motivation and commitment to work independently.
- Ability to independently assess needs and develop creative solutions.
