- Only 8% of the total publications on CVD are from developing countries
- More than 60% of the Global burden of coronary heart disease occurs in developing countries.
- 82% of the future increase in coronary heart disease mortality will occur in developing countries.
- Two-thirds of the patients die before reaching the hospital, this highlights the need for early recognition and prevention.
- Major risk factors of CVD include:
- High blood pressure
- Tobacco / Smoking
- Diabetes
- High cholesterol
- Physical inactivity
- Obesity and
- Socio-economic status
The place of awareness in fighting CVD
- Awareness is the most effective method of intervention. According to WHO two-thirds of patients die before reaching the hospital. So the need for early recognition and prevention is necessary.
- The foundation will use all proper and culturally acceptable media to draw attention to CVD, working closely will Youth Development Groups. (Drama, films, school clubs, healh planning clubs, inter-house sports, religious institutions, neighborhood programs)
